🏆 A Fantastic Few Weeks for Le Chéile AC 🏆

Report/Results:

It has been an incredibly busy and successful few weeks for Le Chéile AC, with athletes competing at local, provincial, national and international level. From national medals and championship performances to strong showings in road races, cross country and indoor athletics, the club continues to represent itself with pride across all age groups.

🥉 National Bronze for Ciarán Connolly

The highlight of the period came at the National Senior Indoor Championships 2026 in the National Indoor Arena where Ciarán Connolly produced an outstanding performance to claim Bronze in the Senior Men’s 60m Hurdles Final, clocking 8.45 seconds.

The official final results were:
🥇 Adam Nolan (St Laurence O’Toole AC) – 8.03
🥈 Sean Carmody (Leevale AC) – 8.19
🥉 Ciarán Connolly (Le Chéile AC) – 8.45

Ciarán is no stranger to medalling at senior level in the high jump, but this was his debut over the 60m hurdles, making the achievement even more impressive.

Also competing in the final was Jules Robelin, who finished 6th place in 9.21 seconds. Jules also competed in the Long Jump, finishing 12th overall.

Other Le Chéile athletes competing across the championships included:

Keeley Hogan – 400m
Orann Poole – 60m (just outside his PB in the heats)
Jules Robelin – Long Jump (12th)
Men’s 4x200m Relay Team – Keeley Hogan, Ciarán Connolly, Rory Ardiff, Orann Poole and Jules Robelin

The relay team finished 6th overall.

🏆 Outstanding Performance for Tricia McLoughlin – Donadea 50K

At the Donadea 50K, which hosted the All-Ireland 50km Championships, Tricia McLoughlin produced a superb performance to finish 4th overall female and claim All-Ireland Gold in the Female O40 category, completing the challenging course in 3:46:32.

Also representing Le Chéile AC on the day were:

• David Power – 3:58:20, running as the official 4-hour pacer and guiding runners to sub-4-hour finishes
• Tom Lundy – 4:29:43
• Bryan Collins – 4:58:22

It was another fantastic showing for the club at national championship level in Donadea Forest Park.

🌏 Tokyo Marathon – Another World Major

Le Chéile AC also had international representation with Eamon Shields competing in the Tokyo Marathon, one of the prestigious Abbott World Marathon Majors.

Eamon completed the race in an excellent time of 3:19:36, adding another World Major marathon to his impressive achievements.

🇮🇪 National B Juvenile Cross Country Championships

Le Chéile AC also had success at the National B Juvenile Cross Country Championships.
Aisling Loughlin produced a superb run to finish 4th place in the U15 Girls race, narrowly missing out on a podium position in a very competitive national field.

All Ireland Masters Cross Country Championships

At the All Ireland Masters Cross Country Championships, Le Chéile AC was represented by:

• Brian McGrath – 8th place M70
• Brendan Kearney – 24th place M45

Both athletes competed strongly against top masters athletes from across the country.

🏃 Leinster Schools Cross Country – Navan

Le Chéile athletes were proudly represented at the Leinster Schools Cross Country Championships in Navan, competing against some of the strongest school athletes in the province.
A special mention goes to Aisling Loughlin, who produced an excellent performance to finish 7th place in a highly competitive race.

Also representing their schools and Le Chéile AC on the day were:
• Orla Quinn
• Siofra Gough
• Emilia Machon
• Una Geraghty

All athletes competed strongly in tough cross-country conditions and represented their schools and the club with great determination.

Leinster Juvenile Indoor Track & Field Championships
(Day 3 & Day 4 – National Indoor Arena)

Le Chéile AC had a strong representation at the Leinster Juvenile Indoor Championships, with athletes competing across sprint, hurdles, jumps and middle-distance events.

Another strong performance came from Mannix Taylor, who finished 4th in the U12 Shot Put, and Kylie Mhondiwa who also finished 4th in Shot Put and was 1st in her 60m Hurdles heat.

Eoin Kelly produced a superb performance in the High Jump finishing 5th with a new PB of 1.50m.

Both Kylie Mhondiwa and Mannix Taylor qualified for the upcoming National Indoor Championships, a fantastic achievement.

🏅 Kildare Intermediate & Masters Road Championships

Le Chéile AC athletes also competed strongly at the Kildare Intermediate & Masters Road Championships in Kildare Town (8th March).
Brian McGrath won the gold medal for the 11th year in a row in his age category!

In the Intermediate & Masters Men 6km race:
• David Power  – 21:45 (5th M45 / 9th Intermediate)
• Andrew Hart – 22:07 (13th Intermediate)
• Brendan Kearney – 23:08 (9th M45 / 19th Intermediate)

In the Masters Men M70 5k race:
• Brian McGrath – 22:47 (1st M70)
• Seamus Kelly – 25:11 (2nd M70)

🏃 Bohermeen Half Marathon

Le Chéile AC had a fantastic turnout at the Bohermeen Half Marathon with strong performances from club athletes:

Le Chéile AC athletes also took part in the Ultima Oil Moneystown 4 Mile.
• Sinead Kane (Visually Impaired athlete) – 27:41
• John O’Regan – 28:20
Sinead continues to inspire through her achievements as a visually impaired athlete competing in road races across the country.

Intervarsity Championships – National Indoor Arena (7th March)

Le Chéile athletes also competed with distinction at the Intervarsity Championships held in the National Indoor Arena, representing their respective universities.

A standout performance came from Jules Robelin, representing Maynooth University, who delivered an outstanding all-round display to win the Pentathlon title.

There was further success for Keeley Hogan, whose Technological University Dublin team won the 4 × 200m relay.

Orann Poole also ran a brilliant 7.50 in the 60m.

Also competing was Sarah Fitzpatrick, who represented Maynooth University, competing in both the 60m sprint and the 4 × 200m relay.

It was fantastic to see Le Chéile athletes performing strongly at university level competition.

💙 A Club in Great Form

From national medals and All-Ireland championship performances to provincial competitions, road races and world marathon majors, it has been a remarkable few weeks for Le Chéile AC.
